JetBlue is the only hybrid carrier in the US, blending the best of budget and full-service flying. Frequent flyers of the airline will be familiar with the TrueBlue program, with elite flyers earning Mosaic status to access perks. TrueBlue is also one of the most exciting programs globally, with JetBlue adding transatlantic flights and a recent overhaul bringing new benefits for members up and down the chart. Here's the Simple Flying guide to JetBlue's TrueBlue program.

The pros and cons

Before our deep dive, we'll take a look at the biggest pros and cons of the TrueBlue programs. Starting with the positives, we have:

  • Rewards for every tier: This summer, JetBlue ditched its one-tier-only elite status for a bit more of a traditional setup. You start receiving benefits from 10 Tiles onwards (more on that below) all the way up to 50 Tiles, when you reach Mosaic 1 status. This includes all your usual perks like priority check-in, boarding, and checked bags. The new Mosaic 2, 3, and 4 bring extra rewards like upgrade certificates, extra legroom seats, and even helicopter transfers!
  • Earn with a credit card: If you have access to one of JetBlue's credit cards, reaching Mosaic status is easier than ever, with 1 Tile for every $1,000 spent on the card (vs 1 Tile for every $100 spent on flying). With elite status within easy reach and new benefits like confirmed Mint Suite upgrades coming in 2024, the program has become more lucrative this year.
  • International and partner redemptions: While the big three carriers benefit from their alliance memberships, JetBlue was historically restricted to just itself and partners like Hawaiian. However, that has changed rapidly. For starters, JetBlue's own flights to New York, Paris, and Amsterdam offer new destinations for customers, while partnerships with airlines like Qatar Airways opens up global connections as well.

However, there are still some negatives with the program:

  • Limited spending opportunities: If you live outside the US, or even JetBlue's hubs, there are few places to spend the miles you earn. Qatar Airways redemptions are a step forward but the lack of alliance membership means that you can't use your benefits at other airports either. The loss of the Northeast Alliance will American is another blow to what looked to make JetBlue a major force, although the ongoing merger with Spirit should help rescue that.
  • Upgrades: While partially changed in 2024 thanks to confirmed Mint upgrades during booking, JetBlue still does not offer passengers a chance for complimentary upgrades to the Mint cabin. While the big three US airlines have offered this for years, JetBlue is holding out, choosing to use a dynamic certificate pricing for upgrades instead.

As with everything, the program is a lot more nuanced, so read below to discover how to earn miles, elite status, and spend with TrueBlue, as well as some hidden perks.
